Welcome to the Administration Department
The City of Somerton Administration Department oversees all aspects of municipal government. Taking on the dual responsibilities of City Manager and City Clerk and working closely with the Mayor and Council, the department is responsible for the daily operations of the City and oversees city departments to ensure that the goals and initiatives of the Council are fully implemented. Department staff consists of the City Manager/Clerk and Executive Secretary.

City Manager
- Submits the annual budget for Council adoption
- Provides administrative leadership and management of municipal operations
- Executes policies and programs established by Council
- Recommends adoption of measures that may be deemed necessary for the health, safety or welfare of the community
- Sees that all laws and ordinances are duly enforced, and investigates all complaints concerning administration of city government

Mission Statement
The Administrative Services Department's mission is to maintain the financial integrity of the City and to provide quality support to the City's employees through Human Resource functions. This is accomplished through comprehensive and integrated financial management services. The Administrative Services Department is committed to improving the City's ability to accomplish essential functions of government while continuing to maintain the financial integrity of the City.
Our Department
The Administrative Services Department oversees debt management, payroll administration; grant coordination and reporting, fixed assets reporting, budget management and administration, procurement, assessment development and management, customer billing services, employee benefits, and coordination of the annual audit by independent certified auditors.
- Billing and collecting all revenues and providing periodic reports on revenue and revenue projections.
- Interacting with every business in the City through the business license process, as well as issuing permits for taxis, sidewalk vending of arts & crafts, flowers, and food vending.
- Hearing many expressions of customer concerns in the course of their everyday transactions with Finance Customer Service and Revenue Collection staff.
- Managing the City's purchasing activity, including bids, RFPs, contracts and payments for vendors doing business with the City
- Compiling and publishing the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)

Administrative Services Department includes 5 employees and operates with a budget of approximately $140,000, of which almost 70% is from the General Fund. More than 90% of this budget is dedicated to Customer Service functions either to residents or to the employees.
